Pat called and needs to delay her arrival. Okay. I had spent an entire week and weekend cleaning up the place, going through old shit, reminiscing until I cried (and laughed) myself to sleep, and all for a postponement. Is this a metaphor for life or what!

We’re going on the cruise this weekend.) It had to be last minute for pricing specials so I’ll have to call in sick tomorrow along with the rest of the staff. Does a cruise require a bathing suit or can I just spend the day next to the buffet in my nightgown?

Mickey picked me up at some ungodly hour Friday morning and off we flew to Florida to catch the ship along with hundreds of other cold-weary travelers. We were bombarded with people wanting to take our pictures and sell us booze. By the time we were ensconced in the room, I was hot, sweaty, and pleased as punch. Friday night we ate and drank and danced with strangers. By the end of the cruise I had fallen in love and strayed from unspoken vows. Both experiences were incredible; the first love airy-fairie, and the temptress, very powerful. I am not one to dabble, but now that I’m post fifty, I don’t take myself so seriously. That’s my explanation at this point, while I'm sitting at an airport with a borrowed computer, wondering what just happened.
Kate's award winning romance novel

A Place to Find Me by Kate
Cassie is a forty-six-year-old waitress living in Texas. Her lover has left. Her best friend has moved. If Cassie were paying attention, she would notice that her life is a mess. But she has a dog and a house full of memories to keep her warm at night until her mother dies when she suddenly becomes head of a family business--and not a particularly friendly family at that. She finds solace in the arms of an employee only to find out that the lovely woman comes at a very high price. But it isn't until tragedy blind sides Cassie that she is able to step into a world of purpose and hope. If only Haley hadn't come along...
