I am still very raw. She left a message on my answering machine last night saying she wanted to talk. I called her back and said fine, whatever, thinking she meant tonight or the next night, maybe meeting at a restaurant. But, no she meant at that exact moment but that moment had passed. I am a sucker.

Okay. Enough of girl friend woes. Did you read about Cheney's daughter's latest absurdity? She runs a conservative advocacy organization in Washington, Keep America Safe, and has put out a video questioning the loyalty of any lawyer who defends terrorists. I guess she doesn't believe in the constitution or the basis of our society, our judicial system. Turning our lives and our future as a country into a game of scoring news bites and political victories is burning my insides up. I know, it is just one of many things. Hopefully a majority of Americans aren't so dumb as to believe the catch phrases used to describe complicated issues. In Utah a senator tried to pass a bill that would eliminate 12th grade so that taxes on cigarettes would not be raised. Go figure. Those of us that have had the privilege of 12 years of society-paid schooling need to be smart enough to think about the lines we are fed.
Kate's award winning romance novel

A Place to Find Me by Kate
Cassie is a forty-six-year-old waitress living in Texas. Her lover has left. Her best friend has moved. If Cassie were paying attention, she would notice that her life is a mess. But she has a dog and a house full of memories to keep her warm at night until her mother dies when she suddenly becomes head of a family business--and not a particularly friendly family at that. She finds solace in the arms of an employee only to find out that the lovely woman comes at a very high price. But it isn't until tragedy blind sides Cassie that she is able to step into a world of purpose and hope. If only Haley hadn't come along...
